Austin Richard Post better known as Post Malone is one of the hottest artists out there right now. In April 2018 his 2nd album Beerbongs & Bentleys was released a year after it was supposed to, he’s touring non-stop throughout the summer in support of it. Last week the tour stopped at Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA, and if it didn’t sell out its 19,000+ seats it was pretty close.
There were a few openers unfortunately missed due to traffic getting to the venue. Malone came out after an intro of body shaking bass from woofers the size of small couches. He started the set with “Too Young” from his debut album Stoney then immediately went into “Better Now” from B&B, seemingly about the break up from a meaningful relationship. He was very thankful to the screaming crowd. Occasionally stopped to drink a swig, he encouraged the crowd to have a good time. He also played a few songs acoustic, showcasing his singing talent with “Stay,” another song on Beerbongs & Bentleys.
While he is unconventional with his look and style, Post Malone is a very talented singer and compelling performer. It will be interesting to see where his third album will take him. Check him out in a city near you in the US and Europe this summer.
