“City 17” confronts the ongoing violence and cultural genocide against the Uyghur people under the Chinese Communist Party. The song aims to shed light on these atrocities and serves as a warning against the coercive tactics of authoritarian regimes worldwide.” – Harry [vocals]
Since their live debut in early 2022, Burner have rapidly ascended in the UK underground scene. Their impressive performance history includes a full UK tour supporting Employed to
Serve in Spring 2022, multiple headline tours across the UK and Ireland, and notable festival appearances at Bloodstock, ArcTanGent, 2000Trees, and Incineration in 2024. They also supported UK metal heavyweights Sylosis during their April 2024 UK & Ireland tour, underscoring the significant impact Burner has made within the heavy music community.
The band’s debut LP, It All Returns to Nothing, released in June 2023 via Church Road Records, received critical acclaim, and appeared on several year-end lists, solidifying Burner’s reputation for crafting crushing extreme music. In 2025, Burner continues to push creative boundaries with the release of a new single. “City 17” showcases the band’s ability to blend stomping, ferocious grooves with a matured and sinister atmosphere. Burner seamlessly weaves elements of death metal, hardcore, and black metal into their sound, drawing diverse influences from bands like Trap Them, Darkest Hour, Gatecreeper, Converge, and Bolt Thrower.
To support the release of “City 17,” Burner will embark on a UK tour in April, once again joining forces with Employed to Serve. Fans can anticipate a series of high-energy performances that reflect the band’s relentless drive and commitment to addressing pressing global issues through their music.
