Portland dark Americana band, Bridge City Sinners, have dropped their new digital single and video “Doubt.” It is taken from their upcoming album, In The Age Of Doubt, which arrives on July 12th, via Flail Records/SBÄM Records. Shortly after the release, the band will be on tour in Europe. Head into the article below for the new video, live dates, and more.
“I’ve spent a lot of time inside my own head. Sometimes, while I am there, I make myself at home. I tidy up and spend time caring for the place. Other times, I am an unwelcome guest, destroying just about everything I can get my hands on. ‘Doubt’ speaks to the battle within and how you, yourself, are your own worst enemy. It’s a reminder not to give in to those passing thoughts of self-harm and self-hatred, but instead to push forward on the journey toward a happy heart, body, and mind.” – Libby Lux, lead singer of Bridge City Sinners.
In an era dominated by uncertainty, In the Age of Doubt delves deep into the perpetual tug-of-war between determining what is right and what is wrong, and the endless pursuit of self-acceptance. Following the sonic trajectory of Unholy Hymns in an effort to fully explore their capabilities both as musicians and songwriters, this album combines the band’s folk ethos and instrumentation with their proclivity toward heavier, more alternative styles of music. Both albums are set in the same fictional, hedonistic, post-apocalyptic world on the verge of collapse. Amid conflict and chaos, they explore themes of self reflection, insecurity, disassociation, and escapism. We all could use a break from the world, even from ourselves at times. These songs are an antidote to that harsh reality, a proclamation of solidarity with those who struggle with doubt in their own lives. There’s a tension and release between introspection and indulgence, and it’s too much to take on the weight of the world all on our own. In the end, it’s about the long journey and the connections we make along the way.

More from Bridge City Sinners:
From the misty, pine-covered hills of the Pacific Northwest hail the Bridge City Sinners, who span the continuum from prohibition era jazz to Appalachian death folk. This traditional string band line up bends the meaning of the word genre, Playing festivals from Punk Rock Bowling, to Riot Fest, to Oregon’s Bluegrass String Summit. They started their journey by busking on sidewalks across the country and now this supergroup of musicians find themselves on the national tour circuit. The Sinners still hold true to the DIY mentality of putting albums out on a self made record label, Flail Records. They recently hit #70 on the Billboard charts, top current album sales, for the week of September 4th 2021 for their album Unholy Hymns. With talented musicianship and a punk as f***! live show, this is one band you don’t want to miss.
