Boston’s extreme melodic metal band Aversed, has been selected to perform at Chicago Open Air next weekend. As part of Berklee’s Popular Music Institute (BPMI), Aversed frontwoman and current Berklee student Haydee Irizarry, is part of the program which gives students important performance experience and prepares them for the evolving music landscape including music festivals.
Aversed will perform at Chicago Open Air on Sunday, July 16 at 11:15 am, on the Blackcraft Stage. The band has been has been on our radar for some time, having opened for Ensiferum, Exhumed, Korpiklaani, Sonata Arctica, Tengger Cavalry, and Incite, among others. The band is still touring in support of their début EP, Renewal. Irizarry is one of the best up and coming metal vocalists in the USA and just wrapped a tour with another Boston band, Carnivora and also has another project, Zahra. She been featured on Ghost Cult a few months back when we shared her killer collaboration on a classic Wintersun cover, which you can see here.
Students in the BPMI program gain experience at each festival handling on-site promotion, production and tour management.
Chicago Open Air is one of seven festivals BPMI artists are appearing at this summer. Others include Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. More info about the program is below.
