Black Sabbath’s Final Show – “Back to the Beginning” is A Celebration of Metal’s Founding Fathers

Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne “Back To The Beginning” Roundtable Review

Born John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, in Birmingham, England, Ozzy’s career began in the late 1960s when he co-founded Black Sabbath. With their groundbreaking debut in 1970, Sabbath forged the genre of heavy metal, with Ozzy’s haunting vocals at the forefront. Over the next decade, songs like Paranoid, War Pigs, and Iron Man became anthems of rebellion and sonic darkness.

Ozzy’s influence extended well beyond Sabbath. His solo career produced landmark albums like “Blizzard of Ozz” and “Diary of a Madman.” At the same time, MTV’s “The Osbournes” in the 2000s transformed him into a pop culture figure known for his exuberant personality and chaotic charm.

In recent years, Ozzy’s health struggles made headlines. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003, he continued to perform seated on a throne—a defiant act of resilience. On July 5, 2025, he rejoined his bandmates for a legendary final concert at Villa Park in Birmingham. That show, titled “Back to the Beginning,” featured Ozzy delivering a shortened set from his throne in front of 40,000 fans and was celebrated alongside Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and more. It was his final bow onstage, an emotional epic farewell.

In a statement, his family shared: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

Ozzy’s legacy is immeasurable. He was the man who introduced the world to heavy metal’s darkest edge, who rode its rise, and who redefined what it meant to be a rock star. With slippery charisma and unapologetic difference, he left behind an indelible mark on global music and culture.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their children, Kelly, Jack, and Aimee. As well as Elliot Kingsley (adopted), Jessica Osbourne, and Louis Osbourne from his first marriage. The outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow musicians worldwide underscores the breadth of his impact. Ozzy Osbourne lived loud—often recklessly—but always profoundly. He didn’t shy away from the shadows; he sang through them.

🕯️ 1948–2025
Rest in power, Ozzy. You didn’t just bite the head off the bat—you ripped the heart out of mediocrity and showed us what it meant to be metal.
