Kawaii metal band BABYMETAL will play 10 shows at Tokyo’s legendary ”Budokan” venue in 2021 as part of the group’s 10th-anniversary celebration. The shows, which will mark the final chapter of the “Metal Resistance” era, will kick off with two dates in January (19 and 20) and four concerts in February (16, 17, 19 and 20) before continuing later in the year. BABYMETAL previously played Budokan twice in early 2014 (“Red Night” and “Black Night”), becoming the youngest female artists ever to perform at the legendary arena made famous in the 1970s by Cheap Trick’s album “Live at Budokan!” The band just released a compilation album of greatest hits, 10 Years of BABYMETAL.
Moametal told Billboard in a retrospective interview/feature about the upcoming concerts: “I consider the Budokan shows as the period we properly display everything we’ve gained in our journey over the past 10 years, and our gratitude to everyone who encountered us along the way.”
