Amanda Palmer has released a charity single, crowdsourced from her Patreon supporters, dubbed ‘Drowning In Sound’. According to a message from Palmer, 100% of the profits will go to the Texas Diaper Bank (http://www.texasdiaperbank.org), who are helping all affected areas in the Harvey aftermath, not just in Houston.
Here is Palmer’s message to fans and supporters regarding the track:
HOLA COMRADES!
super-quick one…
if you missed it, i just wrote, recorded and released a brand-new song, written with help from input from over 600 patrons, called “drowning in the sound”. i then released it as a Patreon Thing.
i’m really, really proud of this song. it’s just piano and vocals but it sounds massive. there’s shades of everything in it: a little ani, a little regina, a little tori, a little prince…
even a little elliott smith.
the lyrics were inspired by lots of things: the many personal and heavy comments on my patreon post, the eclipse, the hurricane, the government, the increasing toxicity on the internet….
the entire story behind the song is HERE:
http://amandapalmer.net/drowninginthesound
and you can get it directly HERE on bandcamp:
https://amanda.bandcamp.com/track/amanda-palmer-drowning-in-the-sound
it should be up on iTunes/Spotify etc in a few days. for now, bandcamp.
100% of the public profits will go to the Texas Diaper Bank (http://www.texasdiaperbank.org), who are helping all affected areas in the harvey aftermath (not just houston).
PLEASE LISTEN (with headphones or on good speakers!!), DOWNLOAD, DONATE and SHARE.
and if you haven’t joined the patreon yet, for heaven’s sake, do. we are having a blast:
