2024 is a big year for Taylor Swift. With her world tour currently ongoing, she was able to surprise fans with the unexpected release of her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19th. Of course, Swifties loved it. But as non-Swifties, we wanted to share our thoughts about this album and if it’s really as great as people claim upon the release of this album.

If you’re planning to listen to Taylor Swift’s new album, you can do so on different platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. However, you must have a reliable internet service provider and a capable internet plan to actually enjoy listening the new tracks, especially if you’re planning to download the entire album for offline listening.

So, about our thoughts regarding The Tortured Poets Department – the first time we listened to it, we couldn’t understand the hype about it because it was a typical Taylor Swift album. It was like a combination of her albums evermore and folklore, at least in our ears. The album contained 16 songs, two of which features popular music artists Post Malone and Florence and the Machine. Here’s a list of the songs:

  1. Fortnight
  2. The Tortured Poets Department
  3. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
  4. Down Bad
  5. So Long, London
  6. But Daddy I Love Him
  7. Fresh Out the Slammer
  8. Florida!!!
  9. Guilty as Sin?
  10. Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
  11. I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
  12. loml
  13. I Can Do It With a Broken Heart
  14. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
  15. The Alchemy
  16. Clara Bow
  17. But Daddy I Love Him (Acoustic)

All the songs were all the songs were well-produced, as expected from a Taylor Swift album. It’s probably comforting for longtime fans, but for those expecting a major departure, it might feel a little safe. But then again, the lyrics of most songs were exceptionally written, and that’s one of the major reasons why Swift is loved by many. However, some of them were just meh. And by the way, if you like streaming TV and movies, you can watch The Eras Tour on Netflix and other Taylor Swift documentaries on Netflix and Disney+ to know her more (if you don’t yet).

Going back to her new album, honestly, we were underwhelmed with it. We don’t have anything against her. We actually like many of her songs, but this one was a bit boring for us. Sure, there were some great tracks that we genuinely liked, such as The Tortured Poets Department, Down Bad, and Fortnight, but the others were just subpar given that she’s released some of the biggest hits of her time.

If you’re planning to listen to all her albums, you need to have the best internet provider because you’ve got a long way to go, and having an unstable internet connection isn’t going to help you. Taylor Swift is undoubtedly one of the best artists of this generation, so no matter what she releases, people will listen to it. It’s always the relatable lyrics that keeps her fans coming back for more.

The Tortured Poets Department is a 6.5/10 for us. Swift remains as a solid singer and songwriter, but we’ve heard better from her than this album. But who knows? We just probably need to hear this album a few more times for us to really appreciate it – and of course, we’ll let you know once we do.
