ALBUM REVIEW: Hexenbrett – Dritte Beschwörung: Dem Teufel eine Tochter

Today on the block we have Hexenbrett. If you are a fan of guitar-driven Black Metal, look no further than this new offering. On their sophomore effort, we are treated to some super hooky riffage, mixed with enough ambiance and atmosphere to keep everything nice and evil.

On Dritte Beschwörung: Dem Teufel eine Tochter (Dying Victims) the album is equal parts Rock n Roll, Metal, and of course, Black Metal allowing Hexenbrett to put their stamp on this new cut and establish themselves as true players on the scene. Each new track keeps the foot tapping and the head banging. I would describe the energy on this album as an effort to merge the past with the present and in the process, deliver some killer tunes. Although each song is its own entity, the album keeps the energy up with no real peaks or valleys. Just even-keel ass-kicking. Even the slower parts bring their own vibe, an almost funky groove, before diving right back in full force into meandering runs that compel and baffle all at the same time.

To circle back on the guitar work, this album is an awesome display of killer riffage combined with harmonies and solos that stack and build into a gem of a guitar album. With that being said, Dritte Beschwörung: Dem Teufel eine Tochter is a very well-rounded display of musical prowess. I look forward to their future endeavors.
