Brainiac, CNTS, Lung, Gay Witch Abortion, and Others Booked for Caterwaul Festival
The organizers of Caterwaul Festival, May 24-27th, Minneapolis, Minnesota, have just revealed the event’s first ten confirmed artists for 2024. In alphabetical order, the fest will feature Brainiac, CNTS, Ganser, Gaswar, Gay Witch Abortion, J. Robbins Band, Lung, Part Chimp, The Austerity Program, and Thrones. The full lineup, consisting of at least 30 additional artists, will be revealed in the coming weeks. Find out more below.
Watch Clutch’s New Video for Their Cover of “Fortunate Son”
Clutch continues to astonish with their excellent Weathermaker Vault Series of covers. The band has already released a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s classic-rock anthem ‘Fortunate Son’. Now you can watch their music video for the clip, helmed by acclaimed director David Brodsky. The clip is a tribute to their late manager Jack Flannigan who passed recently. In the video that accompanies this release, Tim Sult pays homage to Flanagan by playing Jack’s beloved 90’s Les Paul. The video was shot at J Robbins’ Magpie Cage Recording Studio in Baltimore, MD. J Robbins produced the Clutch albums “Robot Hive/Exodus” and “Strange Cousins From The West” and he recorded all of the WM Vault Series singles.Continue reading
Sixty Watt Shaman Recording Tabula Rasa With Producer J Robbins
Veteran Baltimore based heavy desert rock/doom unit Sixty Watt Shaman will be releasing their next full length release Tabula Rasa this winter via Ripple Music. The record will be tracked by J. Robbins of Jawbox at Magpie Cage Studio in Baltimore, MD next month.
The band has confirmed a string of upcoming shows.

King Giant Posts Album Teaser
Northern Virginia Southern doom rockers King Giant is streaming an album teaser for their upcoming third album Black Ocean Waves, self released this Spring with digital distribution with The Path Less Traveled. They recorded the album at Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, MD and J. Robbins (Clutch, The Sword, Wino) engineered and mixed the album. Robbins also performed Hammond organ on the track, “Blood Of The Lamb,” and background vocals on “Trail Of Thorns.” Cover art was done by Misty Kilgore.

Some things just keep getting better with age. Football, etc.will hit the ripe old age of six this year, with each year better than the last. Especially since Football, etc.core Linday Minton and Mercy Harper have joined up with veteran drummer Daniel Hawkins (Papermoons, Pswingset). Disappear is the follow up to the 2013 LP Audible and was recorded with legendary producer J. Robbins (The Promise Ring, Jets to Brazil), and features four tracks of the band’s best work. Airy vocals paired with flawless musical execution that breaks new ground for the trio.
