As usual, Slipknot does what other bands cannot. The band is bringing back their Knotfest event back home as Knotfest Iowa this September and it features a ton of bands such as The full line-up features Slipknot headlining, with Faith No More, Megadeth, Lamb Of God, $uicide Boy$, Gojira, Trivium, Tech N9ne, FEVER 333, Knocked Loose, Turnstile, Gatecreeper, and Vended. The event will be the biggest heavy music festival to ever hit the mid-western state and will be held at National Balloon Classic Field in Indianola, IA, on Saturday, September 25th. Tickets will be available on pre-sale to Knotfest.com subscribers from 10am Central time on today (Tues, May 25th), with a general on-sale from 10am Central on June 4th, at the link below. Slipknot has also announced they have returned to the studio to record their new album.
The Metal Tour Of The Year is back on for 2021 as Megadeth and Lamb Of God have rebooked their dates for the highly anticipated tour. Trivium and In Flames will be the special guest on all dates. Tickets go on sale starting friday, May 7th at 10am local time at the link below. We last saw Chicago rockers Dead Original was a few months back when their dropped a video for their track “Let it Bleed.” They are back today with a new video for their song “Blasted.” The hard rock trio from Chicago, that features in its ranks frontman Paul Wandtke who got his start in the music industry as a drummer for hire with Trivium, Kill Hannah, and even the hit musical Rock of Ages. Now leading his own group the band, which also includes Sean McCole on drums and Mike Petrasek (Bedlem) on bass, “Blasted” builds on the post-grun\ge vibes with some new moody darkness, via the track, highlighted by Paul’s great vocals. In a year of great tragedy and upheaval, where the word ‘unprecedented’ became a mantra spoken around the world, music has been a stabilising force for millions of us. It has been a consistent power for good at a time when many of us have struggled with unemployment, illness, and bereavement. Whether providing companionship during stretches of isolation, rallying us to fight for change when faced with corrupt political machinations, or even just handing us a convenient distraction from the horrors outside our window, never have I felt such a kinship with music and the people who dedicate their lives to the art.
Sepultura launched their “SepulQuarta’ weekly series of covers collaborations with guests from across music at the start of the pandemic. They also featured history lessons about the band and question-and-answer sessions with the fans. Now the band will release a full-length album in 2021, including jams with members of Megadeth, Testament, Anthrax, System Of A Down, Trivium, and Sacred Reich.
“We started it on April 22nd — [that] was [when we did] the first one — and we did every week for many months, and then we [did] it every 15 days, and then we changed the [day of the week when we uploaded new episodes]. And it was an amazing experience. 28 songs we played. It was more than a three-hour concert. It was amazing. Really.”
According to Kisser, the “SepulQuarta” album will be unlike anything that SEPULTURA has ever released before.
“I think it’s really exciting, because it’s very unique,” he said. “Of course, we’re gonna remix the sound and everything, make it the best that we can, but the versions are there. This is something [made] possible only because of the quarantine situation, of the lockdown. Imagine we’re doing an album like that in normal circumstances; it would be impossible.
“And the great thing about that [is that] everybody was so excited to be a part of it and really happy to play SEPULTURA stuff,” he added. “We [played with] people that influenced SEPULTURA; we had bands that were influenced by SEPULTURA, we had Brazilian artists; pop artists, metal artists. The version of ‘Ratamahatta’ was so unique, so different. And we didn’t see any limitations. We used two drums [on some songs], we used two basses on songs, three guitars and two vocals — not any limitations — and we managed to [make it] work.”
