Ghost Will Release Their Next Album in 2020

In a new interview with Billboard, Tobias Forge confirmed that he has begun writing the next Ghost full-length original album, and it will be released in 2020. Backing up a previous interview where he intimated the band have already recorded one of their infamous covers Eps for later in 2019, Forge claims he has been working on new material “working on for months now,” with plans to be in the studio again by the beginning of 2020 with a release later that year. The band is about to embark on a full tour of Europe supporting Metallica, followed by festivals and more headline shows worldwide. The band is on tour supporting their global smash album Prequelle (Loma Vista Recordings), Ghost Cult’s Album of the Year for 2018,  and is nominated for the Grammy awards this weekend.

Forge commented:

“Luckily, this time around, I feel very certain as to what I want to do, I have tons of bits and pieces and stuff written, and I know that once I really start working that there’s going to be a record which feels very inspired. The dramaturgic nature of the records and the stories are getting more and more intertwined nowadays, which I like. It’s almost like working with a series, I guess; you have your characters and you can still fuck with them and add new things and take things away. You can do whatever you want, which is always enticing from a creative standpoint.”
