David Bowie, who for the majority of his 50 year career was both commercially successful and critically adored, has died after an 18 month bout with cancer, according to a release from his publicist and social media posts from his family. Just this past Friday on January 8th, Bowie released his new album Blackstar (stylized in some cases as * ) (RCA/Columbia) on his 69^th Birthday.
